Used Trucks for Sale Near Newark, NJ

If you have been putting band-aids on that old truck for too long, but a new truck seems unattainable, consider settling on a newer truck that may be easier on the bank account. If you live in Morristown, Randolph, or Newark, check out our inventory of used trucks at Maplecrest Ford and find a quality truck that will suit your needs.

Why Buy Used

When it comes to new trucks, you will be paying a high price for what you want in a truck even for the most basic model. If you choose to add options or special packages, you can expect to pay hundreds, but more likely thousands of dollars above the base sticker price because the truck is new. If you choose to buy a quality used Ranger, Maverick, F-150, F-250, or F-350 pickup, you can save a lot of money and still have a capable truck to take care of your transportation, hauling, and towing needs. When you buy new, you also have to deal with longer loan terms, higher monthly payments, higher insurance premiums, higher sales taxes and the list goes on. Another thing to consider is depreciation. When you buy a new truck and drive it off the lot, your truck's value has already decreased and can continue to decrease by as much as 10-15% within the first month of ownership, and up to 35% or more within the first year of ownership.

When you buy a used truck, your initial sticker price is lower, plus the sticker price also reflects whatever options or option packages are already on the truck so you are not tacking on additional costs to have those options added. Your principal is lower, so your monthly payments are lower, the initial value is less, and depreciation is slower in a used vehicle. This also means that you will pay less on sales taxes, and less on your insurance premiums. An added benefit is if you like a higher trim level in a truck but couldn't afford it in a new model, it may now be attainable in a used vehicle because it will fit better within your budget constraints.

CPO Trucks

If you have concerns about the quality you get in a used truck, perhaps a Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) truck is a better fit for what you want in a truck. When you buy a CPO truck, many models still have a portion of the warranty intact plus Ford imposes some strict criteria upon a vehicle before they consider it as certified for either Gold or Blue:

Gold Certified Trucks

  • Less than 6 model years old.
  • Less than 80,000 miles on the odometer.
  • Must pass a 172-point inspection by Ford-factory trained technicians.
  • Necessary repairs and reconditioning completed by using Ford-certified parts.

Blue Certified Trucks

  • Can be up to 10 model years old.
  • And have up to 150,000 miles on the odometer.
  • Must pass a 139-point inspection by Ford-trained factory technicians.
  • Necessary repairs and reconditioning are performed by using Ford Certified parts.
