Brake Maintenance and the Ford Multi-Point Vehicle Inspection Card:
How often should your brake system be inspected? To avoid a dangerous condition and avoidable repairs, every time you have your engine oil changed is the recommendation.

Even with the technological advances made in braking materials, brake components (such as Calipers, Rotors and Master Cylinders) and control components such as ABS (Anti-Lock Brake System) and Traction Control, your brakes do not last forever and require consistent monitoring and maintenance. With regular inspection of the brake system, many times you will avoid costly repairs such as damaged rotors or brake calipers from brake pads that have been allowed to wear out beyond their safe and useful service life, causing a grinding of the brake rotor surface.

BE ALERT for signs your car will give you indicating a problem: Squeaks when the brake pedal is applied, the car pulling to one side while braking, a pulsating or vibrating brake pedal during normal breaking, a fading brake pedal, or brake warning light, can all be indications of an immediate problem.
