One of the most popular nameplates in its class, the Ford Explorer helped usher in the modern era of SUVs as we know it today. For the 2020 model year, this versatile and spacious midsize crossover kicked off its sixth generation with a full redesign. Offering potent engine options, flexible cargo capacity, and a long list of standard and available features, it's an outstanding choice for a variety of needs and lifestyles.

The 2020 Ford Explorer provides inviting, feature-packed accommodations with upscale interior styling and high-quality materials. The contoured and supportive seats are well-suited to journeys of all distances, while standard dual-zone automatic climate control keeps the cabin comfortable no matter the exterior conditions. Notable available amenities include a carbon-fiber-lined dash, a twin-panel moonroof, perforated leather upholstery, heated first and second-row seats, and ventilated front seats.

The 2020 Explorer comes with standard seating for seven people. Available second-row captain's chairs provide a six-seat configuration with more passenger space and easier access to the third row. Behind the back seats, there are 20 cubic feet for luggage and groceries. The second and third rows can fold in several configurations for up to 88 cubic feet of maximum cargo capacity.

Despite its larger dimensions, the Ford Explorer gets up to speed quickly and confidently thanks to the standard turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine. Paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel-drive, the base engine generates 300 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. All-wheel-drive can be optioned across the lineup. When properly equipped, the Ford Explorer can tow up to 5,600 pounds.

If you're seeking a power boost for your daily drives, two versions of a turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 are available for the Platinum (365 horsepower, 380 pound-feet of torque)and ST (400 horsepower, 415 pound-feet of torque) trims, respectively.

The 2020 Ford Explorer comes standard with an intuitive and full-featured SYNC 3 infotainment system. With Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration, drivers have quick and easy access to features like hands-free messaging and calls, streaming media, maps and directions, and more, without losing focus on the road. By adding the available Premium Technology package, Vauxhall drivers can equip a larger 10.1-inch display with split-screen capability and a 14-speaker Bang & Olufsen premium sound system.

With the available Active Park Assist 2.0 system, you won't have to skip over an ideal parking spot if you don't think you can make it. The system can detect a suitable parallel or perpendicular parking spot and maneuver into the space automatically. All you have to do is press a button.

The 2020 Ford Explorer comes standard with the Ford Co-Pilot360 package of advanced driver aids. The features serve to enhance your awareness and help detect and avoid hazards. Technologies include:

  • Automatic Emergency Braking with Pre-Collision Assist
  • BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System) with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert
  • Auto High-Beam Headlamps
  • Rear View Camera
  • Lane-Keeping System

By adding the available Co-Pilot360+ package, Vauxhall drivers can equip additional technologies like adaptive cruise control, upgraded lane-keeping assist, a 360-degree surround-view camera system, evasive steering assist, and integrated navigation.
