One of the top-selling trucks Ford made over the years is the Ranger. As a mid-size truck, it's one of the brand's smaller options, which leads to some drivers calling it a compact truck. Climb inside, and you'll see that this model is anything but a small truck. The new Ranger is available in several packages, such as the STX Package with an eight-inch touchscreen and a new body, in addition to the FX2 Package with off-road suspension and 17-inch off-road tires. Before you consider any of the special packages, get the lowdown on the new 2024 Ford Ranger.
Engine
Under the hood of the new Ranger is a 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine and an automatic 10-speed transmission. The four-cylinder engine offers 270 horsepower. Ford added a different engine to the Ranger XLT and other trims. Those trucks have a twin-turbocharged 2.7-liter V6 engine with a maximum of 315 horsepower. All models come with the same transmission and let you choose 4WD or RWD.
Performance
Both the 4x2 and 4x4 editions get solid gas mileage as you drive around Newark, NJ. While the 4x4 Ranger gets an EPA-estimated 20 to 24 mpg, the 4x2 Ranger gets 21 to 26 mpg. The standard suspension is on par with those found on similar trucks, and the off-road option performs a little better. It keeps the cab stable and helps you avoid some of the shocks you normally feel while driving to Elizabeth, NJ. The 2024 Ranger's payload capacity ranges from 1,711 to 1,805 pounds and has a maximum towing capacity of 7,500 pounds.
Interior
Inside the 2024 Ranger is a 3.5-inch center stack that puts all your buttons in a convenient spot. To the left is your 2.3-inch instrument cluster. Ford covered the floors with black vinyl that is easy to clean and added two 12V USB ports in the front with another in the rear. While the cab doesn't offer a ton of fun amenities in base trims, you can equip your new Ranger with optional features that include a 4.2-inch instrument cluster, carpeted floor mats, auto-dimming lights, and power locks.
Technology
As with the 2023 models, the new Ranger includes a 10.1-inch touchscreen with all the infotainment options you want to enjoy while cruising around Union, NJ. Active FordPass™ inside the cab to turn your truck into a mobile hotspot. It supports up to 10 devices and gives you a 4G connection you can use anywhere around Linden, NJ. Bring home a new Ranger and get a free satellite radio trial and access to SYNC® 3. Download Ford + Alexa to use the app on your phone through your touchscreen.
Safety
Feel safe in the 2024 Ranger with the camera that keeps a constant eye on the area behind your truck and shows you a live stream on your touchscreen. With Ford Co-Pilot360™, you get a blind spot information system that covers areas you cannot see when you tow a load. This system also issues cross-traffic alerts. With pre-collision assist, your Ranger detects pedestrians and anything else you might strike and applies your emergency brakes if you don't respond fast enough. Lane-keeping assist and automatic headlights also help you stay safe.
